Previous Events

14th July 2018: Awareness Event at the Broad Street

We held a prostate cancer awareness session in the middle of Broad Street, Reading, opposite to Waterstone's shop on Saturday 14th July. This was our most successful awareness day, with 301 people (252 men and 49 women) having been in discussions. We distributed more than 250 of our concertina-folder booklets. Many thanks to those members who volunteered and made this a very successful event.

Social Events

Summer Social 3rd August 2018

The summer social took place in the St Andrews Church Hall and was very successful and enjoyable. 49 people came to this event, including two new members. Members were offered a complimentary drink on arrival, that was served in the group's new gazebo. The gazebo will be of great value during our external events including awareness days. Steve Smyth took many photographs at the social, and we intend to show these in a slideshow at the Christmas Social. Many thanks to all those involved in the organisation of this event.

Christmas Social 7th December 2018

The Christmas Social was, as usual, held in the St Andrews Church Hall . This was a most enjoyable event with 67 members attending. Mange Bien were again our caterers and served an excellent meal.

We were treated to two welcome surprises: Thanks to an anonymous donor, there was a drink served on arrival; Also our member Mike Barnes gave us a selection of seasonal tunes played on his bagpipes. He included several songs, some Christmas carols and 'Auld Lang Syne'. Many thanks to Mike for this rendition.

Wot No Pictures!

Previously we included pictures of these events, but it is not practical to ask everyone who may be shown in the photos for their permission to publish their image on our website. Given the constraints of the GDPR, we feel it is safer not to show pictures publically.
